A solar-powered water purifying device based on technology developed in Aalto University’s Design Factory. It runs the water through a tube filled with titanium oxide coated filter and an UVC-light which kills all the remaining bacteria, viruses and other pathogens. As the course was about materials and manufacturing, the 3D models were made so that they would qualify for mass production injection molding. The final prototype was 3D printed and fitted with the hardware the product would need to work in the conditions of a developing country. Valkia is a Finnish word that has many meanings. It roughly translates as white, pure and fire in English
